Proper maintenance before winter storage helps protect your Neomow L-Series robotic mower and ensures it is ready for use when the mowing season resumes.
Follow the maintenance steps below before storing your mower for an extended period.
1. Thoroughly Clean the Mower
(1) Clean the Exterior
Remove grass clippings, mud, dust, and other debris from the mower's exterior.
For detailed cleaning instructions, see Neomow L-Series: How to Clean the Mower.
(2) Clean the Interior
Remove the upper shell to clean dust, grass clippings, and other debris accumulated between the chassis cover and the upper shell.
Important: To prevent water from entering the mower and damaging the main control board or other electronic components, first use a soft brush to remove loose debris. Then, wipe the surfaces with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid applying water directly to the internal components, and ensure that all cleaned surfaces are completely dry before reassembling the mower.
2. Clean and Lubricate the Caster Wheels and Drive Wheels
Cleaning
Remove grass clippings, mud, and other debris from the caster wheels and drive wheels.
For detailed cleaning instructions, see Neomow L-Series: How to Clean the Mower.
Lubrication
Use the white grease supplied in the maintenance kit to lubricate the designated components.
3. Clean the Charging Contacts
Clean the charging contacts on both the mower and the charging station to help maintain a reliable electrical connection.
For detailed instructions, see Neomow L-Series: How to Clean and Maintain the Charging Station.
Ensure that the charging contacts are completely dry before reconnecting the power supply.
4. Inspect the Blades and Cutting Disc
Inspect the blades, cutting disc, and wheels for visible wear or damage.
If any blades are worn or damaged, replace them before using the mower again.
For detailed instructions, see Neomow L-Series: How to Replace the Blades.
5. Maintain the Battery
If the mower will remain unused for an extended period, recharge the battery to approximately 50% at least once every six months.
Avoid storing the mower with the battery fully charged (100%) for extended periods. The battery should not remain at an extremely high or low charge level during long-term storage.
If you notice battery swelling, leakage, abnormal heat, or an unusual odor, stop using the mower immediately and contact HOOKII Support at support@hookii.com.
6. Storage Environment Requirements
Before storing the mower for an extended period:
- Charge the mower to approximately 50%. Do not leave the battery fully charged (100%) for long-term storage.
- Turn off the mower.
- Disconnect the charging station from the power supply.
- Store the mower, charging station, and power adapter in a dry, sheltered location.
- Keep all components away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, moisture, rain, and snow.
- Store the mower in a level, horizontal position.
We recommend storing the robotic mower indoors in a dry environment with a suitable temperature.
The storage temperature must remain between -20°C and 45°C (-4°F and 113°F). Do not store the mower outside this temperature range. HOOKII recommends a storage temperature of approximately 25°C (77°F).
7. Before Using the Mower Again in Spring
Before resuming operation after winter storage:
- Inspect the mower, blades, wheels, camera, LiDAR sensor, and rain sensor for visible damage, wear, or dirt.
- Clean the mower and the charging contacts.
- Reconnect the charging station to the power supply and fully charge the mower.
- Check the map, mowing schedule, and other settings in the HOOKII App.
- Run a test mowing task to confirm that the mower operates normally, cuts grass properly, and returns to the charging station successfully.
Once all checks are complete, your mower is ready for the new mowing season.
