Regularly cleaning the charging contacts helps maintain a stable electrical connection and ensures reliable charging performance. We recommend the following:
Regularly inspect the charging station and remove any debris or dirt. Make sure all connections between the charging station extension cable and the power supply are clear and unobstructed.
Clean the charging contacts on both the charging station and the mower at least once every two weeks. More frequent cleaning may be necessary if the contacts become dirty or are exposed to moisture and outdoor debris.
Step 1: Disconnect the Power
Before cleaning, disconnect the mower and the charging station from their power sources to ensure safe operation.
Step 2: Inspect and Clean the Charging Contacts
Check the metal charging contacts on both the charging station and the mower.
- If the contacts are dirty but show no signs of corrosion or oxidation: Use a soft, dry cloth to gently remove dirt and debris. Ensure the metal surfaces are clean.
- If you notice black spots, rust, corrosion, or oxidation that cannot be removed by wiping: Proceed to Step 3.
Step 3: Remove Corrosion or Oxidation (If Necessary)
If the charging contacts show signs of corrosion or oxidation, follow these steps to clean the affected surfaces:
- Use 200-grit sandpaper for initial polishing.
- Use 1000-grit sandpaper for fine polishing.
- Gently wipe the contacts with a soft, dry cloth to remove any remaining residue.
- Apply a small amount of WD-40 Specialist to help protect the metal surface.
Avoid excessive sanding, as this may damage the contact surfaces.
Step 4: Check Before Reconnecting Power
Ensure the charging contacts are clean and completely dry before reconnecting the power supply and using the mower.
How to Confirm Cleaning Is Completed
Cleaning is considered complete when:
- No black spots remain on the charging contacts
- No visible oxidation or corrosion is present
- Both the charging station contacts and mower rear contacts are clean and shiny metal surface
